March 6: EQ & The Change Manager

Posted on March 3rd, 2013 by Jen

 SOLD OUT

******

How effective are you as a leader during change?

Even if you don’t hold a positional power, how good are you at motivating and managing yourself and those around you to higher performance, positive outcomes and greater purpose?

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is our ability to effectively manage our own and others’ emotions and it has been found to significantly contribute to personal excellence and all forms of leadership both in personal and professional settings. As people who work in change we often seek to influence – EQ is core competency of those who are effective influencers, and helps us not to burn out in change.

The Change Management Professionals group would like to invite you to our first 2013 session:

“Working as an EQ Coach”.

The session will introduce the EQ competency model taking you through the stages of Self Awareness, Self Management and Personal Leadership.

We will then workshop the model in the context of an EQ Coach working as a member of a team to identify the challenges of managing your own emotions as well as helping others’ to manage theirs during a period of workplace change.

Please note: NEW VENUE – a big thanks to the good folks at Terra Firma for provision of venue, nibbles and beverages.

This is a ‘tout’ free zone  – We are commited to improving the practice of change management through the sharing of stories and experience.

Lachlan Drummond – who leads the Melbourne office of Newspoll - is a master of establishing facts and interpreting data that has influenced decision making at many of Australia’s leading organisations throughout his career.  Research is increasingly being used to inform the media agenda, and communicators now have access to a broad range of DIY online tools.

A few of the topics we are set to cover include:

-          What does research bloke know about communication?

-          Current trends in research and the implications for professional communicators?

-          What it’s worth? The merits of using free online tools vs investing in a market research partner

-          What collection methods work best for your audience?

-          Strategies for extracting quality data

-          Packaging your results and messages for the board room, employees and other stakeholders

Lachlan Drummond is Group Account Director and Head of Strategic Research at Newspoll, and is an accomplished public speaker. He has over 15 years of experience in marketing and market research, previously lectured in marketing communications at Monash University and was a former Treasurer of the Victorian Committee & Qualified Practising Market Researcher (QPMR).
